1st Panel Technician Achieves New Welding Certificate
RPM Welding, the experienced providers of British Standard automotive welding certification for over 15 years, have attained another industry first. Following hard on the heels of their IMI Award Centre status, they are now the first UK welding technician testing and certification company able to issue the new Achieved Outcome Module (AOM 009) for BS 4782 MIG and BS1140 Spot Welding. This certification is the latest requirement set out in the IMI’s renewed schedule of assessment for the Automotive Technician Accreditation scheme for both Panel and Senior Panel Technicians wishing to renew their Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) or sit it for the first time.
The new AOM 009 (BS1140 & BS4872) will officially become the recognised starting point for renewing an ATA ID card (Panel) from the start of April. Working at Southgate College Body & Paint Centre, Bob and Andrew Morris put technician Carlos Robinson from Manor Body Repairs, Enfield to the test while they themselves were under observation by the IMI. All three passed their respective tests with flying colours. Carlos Robinson is delighted to be recognised as the first UK ATA Panel Technician with the new AOM 009 certificate.
Bob Morris confirms that RPM Welding will be offering the AOM 009 certificated module from the beginning of April. They will be able to test technicians either at Southgate College Body & Paint Centre or on employers' premises. Once technicians have passed this new AOM they can proceed with the rest of their ATA Panel re-accreditation, making the entire process faster and more economical.
RPM Welding has recently renewed their website; for up to date information on welding test certification read their blog at www.rpmwelding.co.uk For a no-obligation enquiry about ATA weld testing, preparation, duration and prices call Jess Morris on 01604 767963; fax 01604 463582 or email info@rpmwelding.co.uk.
