RPM NOW OFFERING ONSITE ATA AOM PANEL ACCREDITION

We are pleased to announce that we at R.P.M have become an IMI Awards centre approved to offer onsite welding assessment modules (AOM-009 & AOM-030) for ATA accreditation, for both initial accreditation and also re-accreditation.

Under the new ATA restructure (available from 2nd April 2012), the IMI have incorporated the ability to convert an NVQ (the issue date must be no more than 3 years) to ATA through the same re-accreditation AOM (assessed outcome modules) update route. Attached is a flow chart to show how the new ATA AOM’s can be obtained.

The way the ATA restructure works is if your technician carries a nationally recognised practically based qualification e.g. NVQ/SVQ/VCQ in the same working area and at the same level as ATA, the individual will be eligible to use the new AOM update route to achieve ATA. Rather than the technician having to re-sit the same modules over and over, the IMI (with industry) have agreed the three “critical modules” to be completed to achieve ATA reaccreditation.

The above mentioned AOM’s are AOM-009 (which is a mirror of BS4872 & BS1140), AOM-030 (sill section replacement) and AOM-006 complex MET.

What RPM can offer is to perform two of the modules AOM-009 and AOM-030 ‘on site’ at your premises. With these two modules completed your panel technician will only need to go off site to complete an AOM-006 complex MET, approximately a 2 hour practical assessment.

What does this mean to your technicians?

·         The new AOM-009 (BS1140 & BS4872) has officially become the recognised starting point for renewing an ATA ID card.
·         Once technicians have passed this AOM-009 they can proceed with the rest of their ATA Panel re-accreditation.
·         AOM-009 module is used as a prerequisite but unlike ATA accreditation (3 year accreditation) AOM-009 like your current British Standard, this module has a 2 year validity.

·         The AOM-030 Sill section repair will be carried out in your workplace, giving the technician the best possible chance of achieving the desired standards.

How does this help you?

·         First and foremost a reduction in cost, the reason for this is there is no need for multiple testing for both ATA and PAS125.
·         As this certification can be carried out onsite theirs no need to send your technicians off site incurring unnecessary costs i.e. travel and overnight expenses.
·         The certification being carried out onsite has a number of advantages. Your technicians will be in a familiar working environment, the equipment they use will not be alien to your technician and a reduced loss of production.
·         Once all three modules are completed your technician ATA will be revalidated on it anniversary date.
I hope this gives you a better insight to the routes to achieve ATA accreditation, also we look forward to hearing from you so to discuss delivering these services for you.
